The Laundrette Review

It has been nearly a month since my last post!! I know it is a long time and a load of news and holidays. I am starting September a bit different with a few new projects that I will be telling you soon. Just before I went on holiday I had the opportunity to taste the menu at The Laundrette, since my visit, the place has suffered a rebranding and you won’t be able to find it anymore in Manchester city, but do not worry the same company has opened a brand new restaurant in Manchester and we still have Laundrette in Chorlton. The menu that you will find in this place will be the same as they used to have in their place in Manchester, in fact, The Laundrette in Chorlton is the first and the original.

The Laundrette Menu

In the menu, you can find a range of small dishes to larger burgers, pizzas, fish and meats. The options are very diverse. I haven’t mentioned it before, but I visited The Laundrette with my friend Nina and you probably know already, she was the first person that introduced me to the blogging world!

But let’s speak about food! We started with a sharing board, if you guys have not seen it yet, wait for the picture down here, I am getting hungry just remembering it. The sharing board comes with Ventriciana Salami, Prosciutto, Bresaola, Cured Beertt & Garlic Dough Balls. This board was incredibly good! The cheese and all the meats were delicious, and the quantity was more than enough, so much so that we left a bit as we couldn’t finish it all. We pair this with some fancy drinks that include popcorn and candy floss.

For mains we opted for two very different options, while Nina went for the steak I chose the cod, however, there was an issue with the fish and I had to change it for another thing and I went for the carbonara pizza with a side of macaroni cheese! I know what you are going to say, so much cheese!! And yes, it was, but it was delicious!

The best impressions came from the steak, Nina loved the steak well done and sometimes this is difficult for the restaurants to get a good steak well done, as it gets really dry or it becomes rubbery. However, this was cooked perfectly, it was soft and tasty and the butter on top added juiciness and flavour. We both were really surprised with this steak.

Carbonara pizza!! This was my choice with a side of Mac and cheese. If you follow me on Instagram you probably know already about my obsession with Mac and cheese, this one was great, the pasta was a bit hard but I love it like that “al dente” and the top was very crispy. The pizza, probably all the Italians will be killing me at this point, saying carbonara pizza, but it is not that different to other ones that you can find in Italy with cream sauce and pancetta, the base was crispy, and you can notice on the crust the great oven they have at The Laundrette.

I couldn’t leave this place without tasting the dessert menu! I always leave some room for the sweet and knowing that they do one of my favourite desserts I couldn’t resist. Sticky Toffee Pudding was the option, It comes with an ice-cream and the full cone upside down, It was rich in flavour, spongy and so so sugary, you could taste the sugar all over hehe. The best thing was the sauce, we thought the toffee sauce was not going to be nice as it was really clear but it was incredible.
